James Hetfield at the burger joint
Its been a busy week, but I am settling down with an eye toward the weekend. So heres a fun thing that happened today.
My son and I went out for lunch at a local burger place called "The Counter", where all the burgers are custom made. It was kind of confusing: they give you instructions on how to order and then a checklist and a pencil. It was a pretty decent burger, though.
In the table next to us was a guy sporting multiple tattoos, who looked familiar. Wyatt joked, "hey, its James Hetfield", Metallicas front man and guitarist.
I turned around and chuckled. Yep, it did kinda look like him. I looked again. Wait a sec; he looks a lot like James Hetfield. We sat eating our lunches and pondering if it was James or not. When we heard his voice, it pretty much confirmed it. Finally, I just decided to go up and ask. I mean, it cant hurt to ask, right?
Sure enough, it was him! So he sat and talked to Wyatt all about guitars! I gotta say, James Hetfield is just about the nicest, friendliest man a guy could meet. I mean, how often does a 14-year-old kid get a chance to talk to not only his idol, but the guitarist from one of the biggest bands in the world? Awesomeness.

He gave Wyatt an autograph. And this is where I come in. I want to make a really special rock and roll kinda frame for it. Maybe in a guitar shape or something. Maybe include the Metallica logo. Im not sure, but it will be fun!
Heres one of my favorite Metallica songs:

Finds at Marshalls
Yesterday I stopped by Marshalls and it didnt disappoint! Here are a few things that caught my eye.
Beautiful pillows with down inserts, I believe they were $16.99. I thought about it for a while, but these didnt make it in my cart. I already have too many pillows!
A cute gold polka dot dog bowl. I think this is the most stylish dog bowl Ive seen!
and metallic scalloped candles. These would be perfect for the holidays!
Has anything caught your eye recently at Marshalls?

Home Tour at Its Overflowing Project Update
Today our home is being featured on Its Overflowing, make sure to stop by and take a look! Its almost like a brand new home tour since SO much has changed recently!

and a project update. Two of our five shelves had laminate (we used two sheets of mismatched MDF but the same thickness from Habitat Restore). Well that laminate was unsandable, and when I put my regular primer on it flaked off too easily when dry. My original plan was to put a coat of poly ontop of the paint for added durability, but I ultimately decided to do it right and start with a better primer.
So I sanded off the primer from the two laminate shelves, followed Kates advice and used Zinsser Cover Stain Oil based primer. It is designed to stick to glossy surfaces without sanding, and after two coats, it looks great!
Im a little behind, but I think itll be worth it!

A BIG thank you to everyone who voted on their favorite paint color for the shelving! The poll on the sidebar didnt collect the votes properly (like it said 50 votes and then went down to 10). I wont be using that one again! So I dont have a 100% accurate count, but Im going off of your comments and what I saw in the poll throughout the day. Check out my instragram today to see what I decide!
